Lennox Central Heat Pumps

A heat pump is very much like an air conditioner, extracting heat from one place and transfer it it to another. The heat pumps have been used in Canada and around the world for decades. The basic technology is much like your Refrigerator.

Heat pumps transfer heat through a cycle of evaporation and condensation. A compressor pumps refrigerant between two heat exchange coils. In one coil, the refrigerant is evaporated at low pressure and absorbs heat from its surroundings. The refrigerant is compressed as it enters to the other coil, where it condenses at high pressure, releasing the heat it absorbed earlier in the cycle.

Unlike an air conditioner, in a heat pump the cycle is fully reversible, extracting heat from outside and sending it inside. Heat pumps can provide year-round Heating & Cooling for your home – Since the air outside always contain some heat, a heat pump can supply heat to a house even on cold winter days. In fact, the outside air at –18°C contains about 85 percent of the heat it contained at 21°C. The best Lennox Heat Pumps operate effectively in temperatures as cold as –25°C

Lennox Central Heat Pumps use air handlers and ductwork to distribute heating throughout your home, while Lennox Ductless Heat Pumps can heat and cool your home with no ductwork at all.
